Content Strategy, UX, UI, and Page Layouts

Project/scope

A major automotive retailer decided to re-platform to Oracle OSF, update their site design and user experience. We did an extensive site audit for content, performance, and accessibility. Our work depended on an accelerated time frame which required fast-paced collaboration between designers and developers. We delivered a full set of deliverables including: content migration docs, wireframes, hi and lo-fi prototypes, ui kit, desktop and mobile page layouts, and a bootstrap based frontend react.js library of components.

Outcome/retro

After delivery the client increased customer conversions by 16%. Their site passes the WCAG 2.1 and CAD accessibility standards to exceed the current legal requirements.

With the design system in place and set up for easy edits and expansion their internal team can feel confident maintaining brand consistency on the site.

Working at accelerated timeframes does come with trade outs, and is often not ideal, but we were able to deliver a solution that surpassed our goal.

UI Kit

Creating an accurate and detailed UI kit allowed the developers to work in parallel with the design team. The speed of work meant less time for reviews so it was important to have a high degree of accuracy, QA, and refinements.

UX, Components & Pages, Lo-fi prototype

Working parallel with developers and the UI designer, our UX researcher focused on customer first and accessible design recommendations. Wireframes and lo-fi prototypes were created along with the content strategy and UX writer recommendations. After creating the UI kit and components the hi-fidelity pages were constructed relatively straight forward from the recommendations and the UX wireframe designs. Designing for two breakpoints, desktop and mobile, the pages include: home, header/footer, pcp, plp, pdp, cart, checkout, wishlist, compare, showcase, and various utility pages.
